Art,
Dance, Music and Drama
Yes, language, math, science and social studies are
indeed essential for children, as these teach cognitive skills that
will be applied throughout their lives. But creative skills are also
critical to the developmental needs of a child.
Art, dance, movement, music and drama allow a child to feel, experience
and express. They help sharpen a child's skills of observing,
perceiving and discovering.
Cultural experiences broaden and deepen a child's insights, attention
to detail and nuance, and appreciation of balance and harmony.
Encourage your child's school to provide opportunities for art, dance,
music, and drama. Make your own home a place where your child can
paint, sculpt, draw, dance, move, play and instrument, sing, hum... and
experience the beauty and vitality of human spirit!
