Literacy through Movement

On December 17 The Pan American Dance Institute at the NMSU Dance Program performed Literacy through Movement. Literacy Through Movement is an interactive children’s program designed to promote literacy, stimulate new ideas, engage the kinesthetic intelligence, and get children interested in reading by bringing books to life through dance. This dance group demonstrated the first component to our children a 45 minute interactive children’s show based on 7 books from your school’s reading list. The second component will be a classroom in-service training workshop for teachers that will focus on how to integrate kinesthetic teaching methods to promote story comprehension, literacy, and a love for reading on January 12.  What a wonderful and cultural experience was made available to our children!
